Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 21, 2026
Little Life Books respects your family's privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Little Life Books app or website, why it is collected, how it is protected, and the choices available to you.
In this policy, “Little Life Books,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Little Life Books app and website.
Information We Process
Little Life Books is designed for adults to create and manage personalized books for children. Depending on the features an adult chooses, we process:
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and an account identifier so that you can sign in, verify your email address, recover your account, and use account-based features.
- Photos. An adult may choose or take photos for a book. Photos may include children, family members, friends, places, or other subjects selected by the adult.
- Narration and audio. An adult may record narration or speech for a story. A recording may contain an adult's or child's voice and may be transcribed when the adult requests that feature.
- Story content. We process story titles, page text, captions, and other content you choose to create in the app.
- Purchase and subscription information. If you purchase Little Life Books Premium, payment is handled through the App Store. We receive information about the transaction and subscription status needed to provide and restore Premium features. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information.
- Support communications. If you contact us, we may receive your email address and the information you include in your message.
Guest Use
You can use Little Life Books as a guest without creating an account. Guest-created content may be stored locally on your device. If you later create or sign in to an account, Little Life Books may allow eligible content to be associated with that account so it can be used with account-based features.
How We Use Information
We use information to create and display books, provide requested AI features, save and synchronize account content, restore books on another device, authenticate adults, manage Premium access, enable adult-authorized sharing, provide support, maintain security, and keep the service reliable.
We do not sell personal information. Little Life Books has no third-party advertising and does not use photos, stories, or recordings for behavioral advertising or tracking. The app does not access IDFA or another advertising identifier.
AI Processing
Little Life Books uses OpenAI to create story text from selected photos, transcribe submitted audio recordings, and create reading-level versions of story text. Depending on the requested feature, we send the selected photo, recording, sentence or story context, and selected reading level and story style through our server hosted by Render to the OpenAI API. Our server adds instructions for the requested story style and reading level. We do not include your account email address as a field in these AI requests; content you choose to provide may itself contain names, voices, faces, or other personal information.
Before sending content for AI processing, the app asks a grown-up to review the AI Processing & Privacy disclosure and choose Allow AI Processing. This permission is separate from the app's existing parent disclosure for other services. Choosing Not Now cancels the AI request without sending its content to Render or OpenAI for processing. The app remembers AI permission on that installation and uses it for later requested AI features. New installations may ask again.
We use AI processing only to provide the feature the adult requested. Provider retention and security records are governed by our service configuration, contracts, legal obligations, and the providers' applicable terms; retention can vary by service and request type.
AI requests use HTTPS to our Render server. The server forwards content using the OpenAI API and attempts to delete temporary photo and audio upload files after processing, including handled failures. Generated text and transcriptions may become part of your saved books. Removing AI permission does not recall a request already sent or delete information previously processed by a provider. We do not promise a fixed provider retention period or immediate removal from provider security records or backups.
Cloud Storage and Accounts
We use Supabase for account authentication, database services, private cloud storage, synchronization, and sharing records. For signed-in accounts, Supabase may store the adult's email address and account identifier, authentication and session data, book titles, page text, photos, narration, favorites, book settings, timestamps, media paths, and sharing records. Guest content may remain only on the device until an adult signs in or creates an account, at which point eligible content may be uploaded for cloud backup.
Subscriptions
Apple processes App Store purchases. RevenueCat helps retrieve subscription products, validate and restore purchases, and determine whether Premium is active. RevenueCat receives a subscription customer identifier and, after sign-in, the Little Life Books account identifier, along with App Store product, receipt, transaction, entitlement, and subscription information. The app does not send children's photos, story text, or narration to RevenueCat as customer attributes.
App Updates and Website Services
We use Expo services to build and deliver app updates. Update requests may include ordinary network and app information needed to provide the correct update, such as IP address, app version, runtime version, and request information. Our website and shared-book pages may be hosted by Vercel or another website hosting provider. Resend is used to deliver email for website early-access signups where applicable.
Sharing
An adult may create and share a private book link using the device's native share sheet. A person who possesses the link may be able to view the book title, page text, photos, and available narration. Supabase stores the sharing record and private media; our website hosting infrastructure delivers the shared page and may process the token and ordinary IP, browser, and request information. Adults should share links only with people they trust.
Service Providers
Our service providers include Supabase for authentication and cloud storage; OpenAI for requested photo, text, and audio processing; Render for server hosting; RevenueCat for subscriptions; Apple for App Store purchases; Expo for app builds and updates; Vercel and other hosting providers for the website and shared books; and Resend for applicable website email delivery. They process information to provide their contracted services and are expected to protect it consistently with applicable requirements.
We may also disclose information when required by law, when necessary to protect the rights or safety of users or others, or to investigate fraud, abuse, or security threats.
Children's Privacy
Little Life Books is a family storytelling tool designed for parents, guardians, teachers, and caregivers to create personalized stories for children. Children should not create accounts, make purchases, share books, or provide personal information on their own.
An adult may choose to include a child's photo, voice, name, or story information in a book. Before content is transmitted for AI or cloud processing, the app requires a grown-up check, provides a parent disclosure, and asks the adult to accept the current disclosure. Purchases, purchase restoration, subscription management, and external link-outs are also protected by a grown-up check.
We process child-related content only to provide features selected by the adult. We do not sell it, use it for targeted advertising, or permit third-party advertising in the app. A parental gate is not a substitute for any consent required by applicable children's privacy law.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to Little Life Books without appropriate authorization, please contact us at hello@littlelifebooks.app so we can review the situation and, where appropriate, delete the information.
Your Choices and Permissions
To remove AI permission, open Profile > AI Processing > Revoke AI Permission and complete the grown-up check. After revocation, new AI requests require permission again before content is transmitted for AI processing. You may reconsider by choosing an AI feature or Review AI Permission in Profile. Revocation does not delete existing books, photos, or recordings, cancel Premium, sign you out, or turn off cloud synchronization. Existing books and saved narration remain available.
You decide what photos, audio, and story content to add to Little Life Books. Device permissions, such as access to photos or the microphone, can be changed through your device settings. Removing a permission prevents future access through that permission but does not automatically delete content you previously chose to save or upload.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep account information and cloud content while reasonably necessary to provide the account and requested features, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. Deleted information may remain temporarily in backups, security records, or deletion processing where permitted or required. We do not state fixed provider retention periods where those periods depend on service configuration, request type, or legal requirements. Guest content stored locally generally remains until it is deleted, the app or its data is removed, or the device clears it.
An adult can initiate permanent account deletion from the Profile section of the app. Account deletion removes the Little Life Books authentication account and associated cloud books, pages, photos, narration, profile data, and sharing records. You may also contact hello@littlelifebooks.app with a privacy request. We may retain limited information where required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
Deleting a Little Life Books account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription. Subscriptions can be managed or canceled through your Apple account subscription settings.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
International Processing
Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where the companies that help us operate Little Life Books provide their services. Data protection laws in those locations may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Website Information
If you contact us through or in connection with our website, we may receive the contact information and message you provide. Our website hosting infrastructure may also process basic technical information ordinarily transmitted when visiting a website, such as IP address, browser information, and request data, for security and operation of the site.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Little Life Books evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised policy here. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
